The understanding of exponents can be a tricky concept to teach mainly because the amount of rules that go along with it. To make it easier and a bit more exciting for my students I gave them the option to do a parody song to get a better understanding of exponents. This assignment alone has been something that my Algebra 1 students bring up whenever we have exponents of any kind in class and it allows them to remember the content in a fun and exciting way. The amount of creativity when given such a small amount of information to work with shows the capability of these students.
