After hearing Dr.Gusky speak last summer about Mastery Learning, it really opened my eyes to formative assessments. I have always used formative assessments but never as a tool to achieve Mastery Learning. This year at Flat Gap Elementary each teachers designed daily learning targets that are aligned with the standards. Then a formative assessment…Read More

My innovation grant has been for the most part successful. My students have their favorite place to sit and work. I am pleased with how the students and parents have reacted to the new seating.

I use assessment data from various sources. We use STAR Reading data, Reading Plus data, MAP data, CERT data. We also use a student data notebook to allow students to do self-reflection and set goals. You can set this up using classroom assessments as well, but it has to be consistently used throughout the year to be effective.

Welcome Jeff! Loved the video and the vision of performance/authentic assessment it offers. Not only an excellent job by the student, but a wonderful example of relevant assessment. Others may want to visit https://www.performanceassessmentresourcebank.org/ where Stanford University has undertaken the building of a performance assessment resource bank.
