How is Action Research a classroom benefit?
• Professionalize teaching
• Personalize learning
• Empower teachers
• Enhance motivation and effectiveness of school faculty
1. KVEC Action Research Builds the Reflective Practitioner
When individual teachers make a personal commitment to systematically collect data on their work, they are engaging in a process that will foster continuous growth and development. When instruction is looked on as a real time investigation into factors affecting teaching and learning and when reflections on the findings from each day’s work inform the next day’s instruction, teachers develop greater mastery of the art and science of teaching. In this way, ARI individual teachers conducting action research are making continuous progress in developing their strengths as reflective practitioners.
2. KVEC Action Research Drives School-Wide Improvement
When a faculty has identified and shares a commitment to school-wide improvement and collaboratively study their practice to strengthen the achievement of the shared goal there will be a powerful impact on team building and program development. Focusing the combined time, energy, and creativity of a group of committed professionals on identified school need issue will inevitably lead to program improvements and improved teaching and learning.
3. KVEC Action Research Promotes Professional Cultures
When action research becomes a common practice it becomes a tool to achieving the long desired goal of KVEC school faculties is to transform themselves into “communities of learners” that engage in relevant and meaningful work. Action research can be a means to empower teams of colleagues who share a passion about an aspect of teaching and learning to conduct investigations into that area of interest and then share what they’ve learned with the rest of the school community.
