I have received the Dash and Dot robots I ordered with my grant. I was able to get 2 of each as well as curriculum for K-5 and challenge cards. I have been able to expose the 5th grade GT students to them before Christmas Break and they loved them. The discussion and problem solving strategies used to do some basic programming challenges was excellent. One student was even able to add a Dash robot to her Christmas list and Santa delivered. I did find that if you are purchasing these robots Dash is more beneficial than dot. I was able to write another grant through our Chamber of commerce to get more Dash robots. Dot is more for very young children so I will be able to use them with K-1 probably. Dash does a lot of great things and with the various apps you can differentiate with the level of coding from basic to advanced to challenging. I can’t wait to get my 5th grade pull out again next week to dive into problem solving with our Dash and Dot robots. We are also putting a plan together for these robots to go into the 5th grade math classroom for a math lesson that came with our curriculum. I will update with videos and pictures from that lesson.
